Acerola, Malpighia punicifolia, generally grows in tropical regions such as South America. It is found in particular in Peru but also in the Antilles where it is called Barbados or West Indian cherry.
This shrub with bright red flowers produces tangy fruits that are visually similar to cherries and are known for their richness in vitamin C.
Vitamin C contributes in particular to reducing fatigue, protecting the body's cells against oxidative stress and to the normal functioning of the immune system.
