THE turmeric is a plant native to South Asia whose name comes from the Sanskrit kunkuma. It is often called Indian saffron because of its daily use by its inhabitants and its orange color.
Very present in Ayurvedic medicine, it is the root of this spice (rhizome) which is used for its virtues.
