Description
Saw palmetto berry (Serenoa repens, Sabal serrulata) consists of the ripe, dried fruit of Serenoa repens. The berry contains fatty acids (mainly lauric acid and ethyl laurate), along with phytosterols and polysaccharides.
Nearly all men over the age of 45 have an enlarged prostate—small male sex glands that surround the urethra. Enlargement and inflammation of the prostate can impede urine flow and affect sexual function. BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia) causes frequent nighttime urination, pain, burning, and difficulty urinating. The conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone is a chemical reaction that contributes to prostate enlargement and its symptoms. Saw palmetto berries have been shown to inhibit this chemical reaction. By standardizing saw palmetto fatty acids to between 85 and 95% TP3T, Natural Factors provides a potency-standardized herbal extract for men.
Women – Saw palmetto extract may help some women who have excess androgens. It helps balance hormonal androgen levels.
